How does Our Learning Happen
At St. Bartholomew’s Children’s Centre our goals and objectives support the fundamental building blocks of learning by providing a nurturing environment where there is no judgment. At the Children’s Centre we believe that smaller group sizes and inclusion are essential to providing a happy, healthy community-based program.
CREATIVE LEARNING
We provide daily opportunities for creative arts through exploration of various materials as well as planned activities and projects that cater to the interest and curiosity of our children.
LITERACY LEARNING
We are committed to supporting literacy learning in all areas of our program. Through the use of books, magazines, technology, and writing/drawing materials, we plan experiences that engage the children so they feel supported through their learning journey.
OUTDOOR PROGRAMMING
We prioritize outdoor play at the Children's Centre. We supply a variety of outdoor play equipment for various areas of interest and ability. We also provide more structured programming for building specific skills that are of interest to the children in the program.
IMAGINATIVE PLAY
We encourage creativity by providing materials and loosely structured programming aimed at fulfilling their need for dramatic play. The children in the program are largely responsible for choosing the theme of play as well as requesting any materials they may need.
HOMEWORK HELP
We provide one on one or small group homework help for all the childen. We fully understand the pressures of parenthood and are dedicated to making your job easier.
TEAM BUILDING
At the Children's Centre we create programming that helps build and enhance self confidence while supporting a team-based philosophy.
NUTRITIOUS SNACKS AND LUNCHES
At the Children's Centre we provide nutritious snacks during the school year and hot lunches when children are not in school.
All menus follow the nutritional direction of the Canada's Food Guide.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
Every Year we hold a Fun Fair, Raffle, and Rummage Sale. While one of our goals is to raise funds for our summer programs the main incentive is to bring together our community. This day of food and fun gives us the opportunity to re-connect with past families, children and volunteers who used to attend the program.
